Environment
We can provide waste investigation reports including land contamination, risk assessment and management.
We provide ecology reports for UK Habitats and Species. Common reports are for Badger Surveys or Japanese Knotweed (fallopia japanica).
Under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Environment Agency and SEPA has the duty and powers to ensure the protection of groundwater and the remediation of contaminated land and groundwater.
Contamination is defined as any land that may be left in a condition to:
- Cause significant harm or possibility of significant harm to:
- humans
- ecological system
- living organism
- property - animals
- property - buildings
- Pollute controlled waters or likely to cause pollution
In the UK we have to deal with a substantial legacy of land which is already contaminated by industrial, mining and waste disposal activities. The full extent is not fully known and can only be found through site investigation and risk analysis.
